OUR WEDDING: POSITANO DESTINATION WEDDING

Ryan and I officially became husband and wife on September 21, 2019, in Positano, Italy. Our wedding was seriously such a dream come true and everything was truly what I dreamed of! Planning a destination wedding in Positano was not the easiest, but having a wedding planner truly helped make our lives a little less stressful. I’m so excited to share all the details of our wedding and our photos from our photographer Rossini Photography who captured our special day.

WHY WE GOT MARRIED IN POSITANO

Italy is one of our favorite countries we’ve visited together and it was also our very first international trip together! Our first trip was in 2014 where we visited Venice, Cinque Terre, Florence, and Rome. We absolutely fell in love with the culture, people, food and love how every city is completely different from each other.

Our proposal and engagement photos are linked to understanding the backstory on why it meant so much to get married at Hotel Marincanto. A quick snippet is that Ryan had planned to propose at Hotel Marincanto’s balcony but was not able to. So we decided on getting married at the exact location he originally had planned. Which made our wedding location that much more special to us.

TIPS ON PLANNING A DESTINATION WEDDING

  • Hire a wedding planner – this will save a lot of headaches and a wedding planner who is local will help with the language barrier and usually has connections to vendors in the area
  • Create a mood board on Pinterest for your planner so they have an idea on your style and what you like
  • Create a mood board on Pinterest for your photographer so they have a checklist of shots you like
  • Choose a meaningful location – our hotel and location story meant so much to us
  • Visit in advance or in our case we already stayed at the hotel previously so we knew what the hotel and venue looked like and did not need to visit
  • Notify guests well in advance, that way guests have time to plan and save if needed
  • Do your research on vendors – read reviews, ask for referrals and make sure you love their work
  • Make guests feel welcome – we created a website on Zola with all of our details to make it easier for them to find any important details. It’s up to each couple but we asked our guests to not bring gifts. We were happy our guests were able to celebrate our big day with us in Italy. We also covered everything except for flight and accommodations (this included our welcome party and we had an open bar for the welcome party and day of celebration)

OUR WEDDING #TOGETHERFERGEVER

For our welcome party, we reserved a day at One Fire Beach in Priano. This included a buffet lunch, boat transfers, sunbed per person and welcome drinks. It was the best idea because we all had so much fun!

One advice I have for any future bride is to relax and not stress. Everything will come together and it’s your day! Just have fun, it will make your special day that much more memorable.

All of our wedding details are listed at the bottom of this post!

To recap this post, it was truly the best day of my life! Everything literally fell into place, everyone had so much fun, and most importantly Ryan and I had a blast. I worried about everything, my hair, makeup, flowers, photos but everything turned out perfectly. I have never felt so happy, supported, and filled with so much love in one day. Ryan and I want to thank all our amazing friends and family for flying all the way to Positano to join us on our special day. We already want to do it all over again! Thank you everyone for your lovely DMs – I feel so thankful and love all the support.

xoxo,

Christine

This is dream. We are looking at hotel Marincanto. Did you also stayed there? Do you mind sharing what suite did you book?
