WHERE TO STAY IN ALGARVE: TIVOLI CARVOEIRO
While in Lisbon, we had plans to head home but decided to extend our trip and head south for the beautiful beaches in Algarve, Portugal. This is my first time in the area and there are a lot of lovely places to visit. If you’re wondering where to stay in the Algarve, I highly recommend Tivoli Carvoeiro. We stayed here for three nights.
We booked this hotel last minute and I’m so glad we did. It’s a 5-star luxury hotel located in Carvoeiro where most of the beautiful rocks and caves are so it’s a great location. The rooftop restaurant and bar are the highlight of the property with stunning sunset views.
HOW TO GET TO ALGARVE, PORTUGAL
We took the train from Lisbon to Carvoeiro which is about 3.5 hours. We had a car ready to pick us up from the train station, booked through the hotel.
Another option is by plane. You will want to fly into Faro International Airport and take a car, train, or taxi to Carvoeiro. From the airport, it’s an hour drive.
ROOMS
The rooms are beautiful! I recommend reserving a room with a terrace and sea view. Unfortunately, we booked last minute and those rooms were sold out. We booked the Superior Room with Terrace.
RESTAURANTS
Tivoli Carvoeiro has 5 restaurants and bars on the property.
The One Restaurant is their fine dining restaurant with beautiful views of the sea. I recommend going here for dinner.
The Sky Bar is the star of the property and we spend almost every evening here. The views of the sea and caves are beautiful, have a few drinks here and dinner at the sushi restaurant. We dined here twice.
The property is also a 10-minute walk into town for shopping and dining.
THINGS TO DO
BOAT TOURS
The hotel can provide you with tours and we did a boat tour to see the famous caves. It was fun but the water that day was a bit rough! The tour takes you to the famous Benagil Caves. We only visited the caves but they do offer longer tours to spend time at each beach/caves.
HIKING
The property has a lot of beautiful hiking trails and areas for photos
BEACHES
There are plenty of beautiful beaches around the property. The closest one is Praia Dos Carneiros. This area also has a one restaurant/bar which is a great option to spend the day on the beach and have lunch.
DAY TRIPS
There are plenty of day trips you can take from Carvoeiro, such as wine tours, and visiting nearby towns such as Lagos or Albufeira. We did not do any day trips and spent our days in Carvoeiro.
We had a very relaxing time and would love to come back to explore more of The Algarve. I recommend spending more time if you’re interested in spending more time on the beach and exploring the nearby towns.
