This time of year is one of my favorite seasons! I love the colder seasons with I’m able to enjoy a few of my favorite holiday goodies like hot chocolate, gingerbread cookies, peppermint flavored snacks and holiday events around the city. Last week, I decided to go outdoor ice skating in Union Square with my friend Shem for a fun day on the ice! With the help of Uber, we had a hassle-free day of getting to the event and also had the convenience of picking one of us up on the way.

I use to always go ice skating with friends when I was living in New York a few years ago. They have three ice skating rinks in Manhattan! Since moving to San Francisco, I loved that they also have a holiday ice rink in the middle of the city in Union Square. It’s the perfect location given there’s a lot of great restaurants, bars and plenty of shopping to do after a day on the ice.

When Shem and I decided to make plans to go ice skating together I immediately scheduled our Uber ride two days later to pick us up at a scheduled time. It’s always great to know exactly when your ride is scheduled to arrive. It was also great to pull an estimate when scheduling the ride to see what it was going to cost.

The day of our planned event, our uber driver picked up Shem before picking me up since I was on the way to the ice rink. I was able to see when he picked her up and how long it would take for them to arrive at my place. I immediately added multiple destinations in the app that way our uber driver knew exactly where he was taking us after he picked me up. I loved how reliable and convenient it was to pick me up on the way thanks to my uberX but uberXL is also a great option for picking up groups up to 6! Once I got picked up we were on our way to Union Square for a fun day on the ice!

Once we arrived in Union Square we were super excited to skate! I love outdoor ice rinks because you can smell the fresh air and see how festive everything is around us. Union Square currently has a large Christmas Tree next to the ice rink giving it a real festive atmosphere. It was so much fun spending time with friends outdoor during the holidays and feeling like we’re kids again.

After a great afternoon on the ice, we decided to take a break and enjoy the view from the terrace on the top floor of Macy’s Department Store. From there we watched others skate around the rink and had a great time catching up on our lives. When we were ready, we called another uberX or uberXL to get us home. Thanks again to Uber for providing us a convenient and hassle-free day to the ice rink! #WhereTo
