MOST INSTAGRAMMABLE PLACES IN TBILISI: 5 DAY GUIDE

Are you planning a trip to the Georgian capital Tbilisi? In this post, I have you covered from where to stay, what to do, where to eat, and of course the most Instagrammable places in Tbilisi.

I visited Tbilisi at the end of April and the weather was perfect! Most days was quite nice and only rained once on the last day. I was in Tbilisi for 5 full days and I think that’s the perfect amount of time to see everything.

Georgia in general is such an underrated country and it deserves so much more hype! Tbilisi has a mix of Europe and Asia and offers some of the best food and wine I’ve ever experienced! The city is quite small so you can either walk to most places, hop in a taxi or use the underground metro. So here’s everything you need to do when visiting Tbilisi.

WHERE TO STAY

Tbilisee Boutique Hotel is where I stayed. It’s a very cute boutique hotel with amazing views of the city and conveniently located in Old Town. It was great but when it came to service it was slow so please note this if you do decide to book this hotel.

Other hotel options: Stamba Hotel, The Biltmore Hotel, Tbilisi Marriott Hotel, and Moxy Tbilisi.

GALLERY 27

Gallery 27 also known as Kaleidoscope House is a vintage house with stained glass windows and the building dates back to the 19th century. This location is a must visit for Insta-worthy photos but make sure to visit after 4pm when the sun is high enough to shine through the glass.

GABRIADZE CLOCK TOWER

Gabriadze Clock Tower is one of old Tbilisi’s newest structures and so unique! The clock tower was built by reusing old pieces from abandoned structures of the Old Town and from buildings destroyed following an earthquake.

BRIDGE OF PEACE

Bridge of Peace connects the old to the new city and is worth a visit during the day and at night!

METEKHI VIEWPOINT

If you love viewpoints head to Vakhtang Gorgasli Monument & Methekhi Viewpoint to get a view of the Old Town.

NARIKALA FORTRESS

It’s best to have a car and drive up to Narikala Fortress for amazing views of the Old Town skyline. Narikala dates back to the 4th century when it was a Persian Cathedral. From here make your way to Mother of Georgia for more views of the city.

MTATSMINDA PARK

If you like going to theme parks and have kids with you this is where you want to visit for the day. Ride up the mountain and spend a few hours at the park playing games and going on rides.

CHRONICLES OF GEORGIA

The massive monument of Chronicles of Georgia is worth a visit! It stands at 30-meter tall with 16-pillars and free to visit. To get here you will need a car.

SULFUR BATHS

When visiting Tbilisi you must experience a sulfur bath. The city is actually built on hot water and the name of the city comes from this. “Tbili” in Georgian means “warm”. Stop by the mosque-style Orbeliani Bathhouse for photos and a sulfur bath experience.

GEORGIAN INTERIORS

If you take a look while walking around you can find some stunning interior doors and stairways throughout the city. Stop by London Hotel (currently being renovated) and the Kalantarov House.

SACHINO

The Sachino Palace is known for its Instagrammable blue balcony. It was build in the 18th century and was a summer residence of Queen Barejan. Unfortunately, it was currently closed and we were unable to visit during our trip.

SAMEBA CATHEDRAL

The biggest symbol of the Georgian Orthodox church. It is the biggest church in Georgia. I was not able to visit but if you have time I suggest you do!

WHERE TO EAT IN TBILISI

The food is amazing in Tbilisi and I was quite impressed! The salads are fresh, and the cheese is some of the best I’ve ever had! Georgia is known for the wine so you have to try as much wine as possible!

CAFE LEILA: This cute cafe is a fan-favorite by locals. Make sure to try the Georgian salads and Khachapuri. Khachapuri is a Georgian pizza and comes in many varieties so try as many as you can throughout your trip.

CULINARIUM KHASHERIA: Located by the sulfar baths this restaurant had the best garlic chicken. Definitely come here for that!

RIGI GASTRODOUQAN: A modern gastronomic douqan (purely Tbilisian style restaurant) and serves the most delicious Khinkali! Khinkali are large soup dumplings and this was by far my favorite meal!

FABRIKA: Once a soviet sewing factory has been revived and transformed into an urban space with cute coffee shops, art stores and they also have free wifi!

HONORE RESTAURANT: One of Tbilisi’s newest hidden barbecue gem. I highly recommend ordering the cheese plate and pork bbq!

ALUBALI: Super cute botanical patio with bamboo, lilacs, irises, various colorful florets, and a half-dozen wooden tables where is served some of the freshest, lightest, and most delectable Georgian food in Tbilisi.

VERIKO: A restaurant located in one of the first Wine Factories in Tbilisi.

Churchkhela is a Georgian candy made with grapes and nuts. It’s delicious and a must-try when visiting Georgia.
