FUN THINGS TO DO IN NEW YORK CITY THIS SUMMER

Are you planning a trip to New York or spending your summer in the city? I know I plan on spending it here! While most people are planning their summer vacations, I like to save money and spend it exploring everything this city has to offer. Summer in New York is the best because it’s also rooftop season! Here is a list of the best and fun things to do in New York City this summer.

EATALY FLATIRON SERRA

My absolute favorite rooftop and one of the most Instagrammable restaurants are located inside Eataly Flatiron. Serra is a rooftop greenhouse inspired by the Italian countryside and changes the decoration each season. Summer always has the best decorations with colorful florals and beautiful cocktails.

EATALY FLATIRON: PATIO DI EATALY

Eataly Flatiron has plenty of restaurant options and another favorite of mine is Il Patio di Eataly, an Italian piazza-inspired outdoor restaurant. Bring a group of friends and enjoy the seafood tower, the best salumi & formaggi board, and shareable cocktails. After your meal, don’t forget to visit Eataly’s market. You will find some of the best food and beverage options from Italy’s 20 regions.

Tip: Make sure to pick up their housemade gelato at the Gelato Counter!

EATALY DOWNTOWN

Head downtown and visit Eataly Downtown! Every time I visit this location I have the best time! Visitors can shop at the marketplace and/or dine at La Pizza & La Pasta A Colori in partnership with Color Factory! The atmosphere is so colorful and fun. The menu is also designed around colors found naturally in high-quality ingredients, selected to highlight the rich hues of Italy’s cuisine. When visiting, I suggest ordering from the colorful menu. The frisella e burrata was my favorite and of course, I had to have pasta – they have a La Carbonara Per Due for two which is built tableside!

COLOR FACTORY

New York has plenty of fun pop-ups but my favorite so far has been The Color Factory! I love how interactive it is & visitors get fun treats like mochi ice cream, gummies, popcorn, etc. Color Factory is located in Soho and tickets are $38 for adults and $28 for children. This is a great place to bring kids!

LITTLE ISLAND

The Little Island is the newest attraction in New York City to open and it’s FREE! It’s located at Pier 55 right next to The High Line with food trucks and great views of downtown. I also would recommend visiting at sunset! There are also live performances throughout summer so make sure to check the calendar online. The Little Island is open from 6 am to 1 am and visitors can visit anytime before noon without tickets. Every day through September 30th visitors visiting after 12pm will need to have timed entry tickets (tickets are free). Reserve your timed entry slots online.

SUMMER PICNIC IN THE PARK

Picnics are the best during the summer with friends! My favorite location is Cherry Hill in Central Park. This area has a great view of the fountain, lake and lots of shade! If you want to be extra or set up a cute picnic in the park I recommend The Delicate Events! They bring everything you need for your picnic set up! All you have to do is show up or bring your own food if that’s what you prefer.
