WHERE TO TRAVEL IN THE USA RIGHT NOW

2020 has been a tough year for many of us especially for anyone used to traveling constantly. However, there are still so many unique and beautiful places to visit in the United States that can be safe and fun. I’m guilty of not exploring more of my own backyard and country but hope to visit more of these places soon. Hopefully, you can visit them too! Here is a list of places to travel in the USA right now.

ARIZONA

Road trips around Arizona are the best since there are many great National Parks to explore.

  • Antelope Canyon
  • Grand Canyon
  • Bryce Canyon is in Utah but drivable from Arizona
  • Sedona

MICHIGAN

I recieved so many recommendations to visit Michigan and I can see why! There are many unique and beautiful spots you should add to your bucketlist in Michigan including:

  • Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore: This spot is stunning and looks like you could be somewhere in the Mediterranean Sea! This is the place to go if you plan to visit Michigan, there’s plenty of outdoor activities from hiking, cycling, swimming and summer camping.
  • Mackinac Island: A unique vacation spot where cars are not allowed. Everyone gets around by foot, a bicycle, or horses.
  • Charlevoix: surrounded by lakes visitors can spend the perfect weekend on the lake. Visit the stunning Lavender Hill Farm.

ROAD TRIP ALONG THE CALIFORNIA COAST TO BIG SUR

California has some of the most beautiful coastlines and Big Sur is an absolute must if you have not been. I recommend starting in San Francisco and driving your way down to Big Sur which is a 2.5-hour drive while making stops at Bixby Creek Bridge, McWays Falls, Carmel, and Monterey! You can read more on my blog post on Big Sur and a Weekend Guide to Monterey.

LAKE TAHOE

I’ve been to Lake Tahoe multiple times while living in San Francisco and absolutely loved it! It’s the perfect weekend getaway with so much to do! The lake is huge so there are many different areas you can stay around but I suggest South Lake Tahoe or North Lake Tahoe. Below are a few blog posts from previous trips:

JOSHUA TREE

I’ve never been to Joshua Tree but it’s been on my bucket list! If you’re looking for a desert getaway Joshua Tree has some of the best hiking trails in the California desert. If you have time, I suggest visiting Palm Springs and Salvation Mountain. Below is a list of the cutest and most amazing Airbnbs in Joshua Tree!

1-2 days in Stowe and Burlington, VT

1 day exploring the Adirondack Mountains

CATSKILLS

Catskills is another beautiful place to visit during fall foliage. If you can plan ahead I recommend booking the Airbnbs below:

MOHONK MOUNTAIN HOUSE IN HUDSON VALLEY

Mohonk Mountain House is the most iconic Hudson Valley resort. It reminds me of an old castle on a beautiful lake. It’s the perfect weekend getaway from New York. I highly recommend visiting for Fall Foliage.

CEDAR LAKES ESTATES

Cedar Lakes Estates is another beautiful property to spend a weekend. It has over 500 acres of greenery and designed for a luxury, relaxing experience. It’s also one of the most popular locations for weddings!

COLORADO

Colorado has plenty of beautiful places to explore, but I highly recommend visiting Colorado Maroon Bells! It’s a reflective lake making it one of the prettiest locations for anyone who loves outdoor photography. It’s located 10 miles west of Aspen, plenty of hiking trails, and fall colors.

I hope you found this blog post helpful in planning your next vacation within the United States.
