A WEEKEND GUIDE TO SOUTH LAKE TAHOE
I just came back from an amazing weekend with Tahoe South! Since living in San Francisco there are so many great places to visit and Lake Tahoe is one of them, especially during the summer. It’s also only 3.5-4 hours from the city. Lake Tahoe is the largest alpine lake in North America and one of the prettiest! There are many activities throughout the year from kayaking, paddle boarding, parasailing, snow boarding, skiing and so much more! Since I visited during the summer this past weekend, here’s the perfect weekend guide to South Lake Tahoe!
WHERE TO STAY
The Landing Resort & Spa – The Landing is a luxury boutique hotel with gorgeous views. Ryan and I visited Jimmy’s for drinks and had a great time.
Edgewood Tahoe – We stayed at the Edgewood which opened in June 2017. The property is a golf course and now has a lodge with 154 luxury rooms and suites. Each room has its own gas fireplace and balcony.
AMENITIES
- Fitness center
- Pool and hot tub
- Private access to the lake
- Golf
- Spa
DINING
The property has three restaurants and bars. The Bistro, Edgewood Restaurant, and Brooks’ Bar & Deck.
WHAT TO DO
Water Sports – There are tons of great water sports activities such as whitewater rafting, water ski, snorkeling, paddle boarding, parasailing and so much more! Ryan and I tried paddle boarding and parasailing for the first time!
Paddleboardd at Camp Richardson.
Parasail with Tahoe Sports at Ski Run Marina Village.
Emerald Bay – Visit Emerald Bay during sunset or go down to the bottom of the lake for more fun water activities
Fishing – Go fishing and catch Rainbow Tahoe Trout for lunch or dinner
Hiking – If you’re a hiker I suggest spending a few hours hiking since Tahoe has some of the prettiest hiking trails. You can also go looking for waterfalls at Eagle or Alpine Waterfalls.
Casinos – South Tahoe is known for its casinos and nightlife. If you want to have some fun and win some cash, visit the Hard Rock Hotel or Harrahs.
WHERE TO EAT
The Lakehouse – I loved the Lakehouse! Every dish was fresh and delicious!
What to order: Hamachi ceviche, summer salad, steelhead trout and mint crusted seared tofu.
Jimmy’s – Come here for drinks or dinner!
Capisce – Feeling like Italian? Make reservations to Capisce!
Red Hut Cafe – Must visit for brunch and get the waffles!
Driftwood Cafe – Amazing waffles and french toast!
South Lake Tahoe was so much fun and really makes a perfect weekend getaway! I highly recommend spending a weekend in South Lake Tahoe in the summer. There are always more things to explore and I know I’ll definitely be back every summer.
