OCCIDENTAL AT XCARET DESTINATION IN RIVIERA MAYA
All thing considered, the Yucatan Peninsula is my favorite area to visit in Mexico. In fact, it separates the Gulf of Mexico from the Caribbean Sea. This includes the Occidental at Xcaret Destination Hotel in the Riviera Maya. I had the opportunity to spend a few days exploring the all-inclusive resort. It was a relaxing experience.
HOW TO GET TO THE RESORT
The resort is roughly an hour from Cancun Airport. I suggest getting a taxi from the airport which costs around $60USD.
OCCIDENTAL AT XCARET DESTINATION
Another key point, the property is situated along the Caribbean Sea surrounded by tropical gardens. The resort was very lush, feeling like I had been transported into a jungle! All in all, the resort has a total of 765 refurbished rooms. This includes the luxurious Royal Level suites. I stayed in the Royal Level suites, with a living room, separate bedroom, and a balcony.

DAY TRIPS
There are many day trips to do from Riviera Maya given its central location. For example, I did a day trip to two cenotes from the property by hiring a taxi driver for a few hours. Specifically, I visited Suytun Cenote (a two-hour drive) and Dos Ojos which is 45 minutes from the resort.
The property has flamingos and deer roaming around and it’s always fun to run into them. Another key point, Occidental at Xcaret Destination is great for family vacations and anyone looking for relaxation! As a matter of fact – the rooms are clean, the staff is very attentive and helpful, and the food is great.
