7 AWESOME THINGS TO DO IN ACAPULCO
As a child, I remember visiting Mexico every summer with my family. It was definitely one of our favorite summer vacations and nothing has changed as an adult! I love visiting Mexico even more as an adult and have visited so many new parts of Mexico. I recently had an opportunity to visit Acapulco for the first time with the Acapulco Tourism Office. Acapulco is one of the hottest destinations back in the 1950s and ’60s and has not lost its charm. It’s well known for its high energy nightlife and beaches. I found Acapulco to have plenty of fun adventure activities but also very relaxing. Here’s a list of 7 awesome things to do in Acapulco!
We mostly stayed in tourist and resort areas which I highly recommend. If you decide to make plans to visit, thoroughly research the safety of the area you will be in. Acapulco exceeded my expectations and I truly enjoyed my time there.
1. TRES PALOS LAGOON TOUR
Take a lagoon tour around Tres Palos Lagoon to explore mangrove tunnels and a natural garden of wildflowers. If you’re lucky you will see exotic species and many tropical birds.
2. LA QUEBRADA & CLIFF DIVERS
La Quebrada cliff is one of the most iconic attractions in Acapulco. Professional divers jump off 40ft and 80ft ledges on the cliff daily. It’s quite entertaining and a great experience to watch.
3. CATAMARAN DAY TOUR AROUND ACAPULCO BAY
Rent a half day catamaran around the Acapulco Bay and have some fun in the sun! There’s plenty of water activities to do while in the bay, snorkeling, kayaking, and paddleboarding.
4. ZIP LINE
A must when in Acapulco! XTASEA is the world’s largest over water zip line! It’s not scary at all and was one of the most exciting experiences in Acapulco!
5. SAN DIEGO FORT & DIEGO RIVERA MURAL
The San Diego Fort is one of the most important Spanish fortresses along the Pacific coast. It has 15 exhibitions and halls to showcase the importance of Acapulco’s history, past, and culture. I did not get to visit the Diego Rivera Mural but if you have time, definitely check it out!
6. TEQUILA TASTING
When in Mexico, a tequila tasting is a must! We had a tasting at the Banyan Tree Cabo Marques Hotel which was awesome! The property is stunning and the tequila was actually pretty good. Keep in mind I’m not much of a drinker but if you love tequila, you will love the tasting!
7. RELAX IN LUXURY RESORTS
Acapulco is full of stunning 5-star luxury resorts. After days of adventures, everyone needs a day to relax by the pool or beach right? There are plenty of awesome and affordable luxury properties so here’s a post to help you pick the best accommodation in Acapulco.
