When planning my trip to Big Sur, I made sure to find the best places to eat too! There isn’t a large variety or many restaurants to choose from but the quality of restaurants in Big Sur is top notch with great views! If you’re planning a visit to Big Sur soon here are my top recommendations on where to eat in Big Sur.
Sierra Mar at Post Ranch Inn
Sierra Mar is located at the Post Ranch Inn which is located on a cliff over looking the Pacific Ocean. The restaurant has floor to ceiling windows which offers amazing views during the day. The restaurant offers a 3 course pre fixe menu for $55 or 5 course for $95 during lunch. This is a great deal especially when you get stunning views! We did not have reservations but was able to get seated at the bar for drinks and dessert during lunch. Can’t make it to lunch? Make reservations for dinner! 4 course tasting for $125 or 9 courses for $175.
Nepenthe & Cafe Kevah
Nepenthe only takes reservations for parties larger then 5. My boyfriend and I arrived around noon and it looked very crowded. We were quoted a 45 minute wait but luckily only had to wait 20 minutes and had the best view!! If you’re looking to kill time while waiting there is a small gift shop at the bottom and also Cafe Kevah for a cheaper option. It doesn’t hurt when there is amazing scenery around you either. What to order (Nepenthe): Everything & the basket of fries!
Big Sur Roadhouse
Big Sur Roadhouse is across the street of Glen Oaks (hotel I stayed at – review coming soon) and a great option for breakfast or lunch. I love the rustic look of the restaurant!! It felt like I was dining in a beautiful cabin! This restaurant has great outdoor seating and I’m just in love with it! What to order: French Toast and the breakfast plate.
Other Restaurants
Big Sur Bakery – 47540 Hwy 1 – A gem in Big Sur and a must visit during my next trip!
Deetjens – 48865 Hwy 1 – One of the best places for brunch and dinner. Cute, charming decor with a wood fireplace and candle lit ambiance
Fernwood Big Sur – 47200 Hwy 1 – Great bar food and awesome pizzas
The Maiden Publick House – Village Center Shops, Hwy 1 – Great bar food and great for late dinners
Big Sur River Inn – Village Center Shops, Hwy 1 – Cute rustic restaurant that was established in 1934! This is a great option for dinner.
