CHECKING IN: ROYAL SONESTA NEW ORLEANS

I just came back from a girls trip in New Orleans and can’t wait to return! My girlfriends and I stayed at the Royal Sonesta New Orleans and our stay was nothing short of amazing! The moment we walked through the doors we noticed the beautiful chandeliers in the lobby and was welcomed by the friendly staff. Since we arrived two weeks before Mardi Gras we started to see everyone getting into the Mardi Gras spirit!

The AAA Four Diamond-rated hotel was in the perfect location! Located in the heart of the French Quarter on Bourbon street; what we loved most is the convenience of the hotel. The hotel is walking distance from Jackson Square and all of my favorite restaurants and bars! The hotel has rooms with balconies over looking Bourbon Street and if that’s too loud or not your style, they have rooms overlooking the courtyard/pool which is much quieter.

HOTEL

We stayed in one of the 483 newly renovated guest rooms overlooking the courtyard on the Club Level. The rooms are recently renovated with beautiful marble floors and the bathroom had L’Occitane products! I loved the smell of it and it’s one of my favorite brands! The hotel has a variety of guest rooms and suites for everyone. Take a look at the list of rooms thats best for you!

Guests on the 6th & 7th floor has access to the R Club Lounge. The lounge offered complimentary breakfast daily and complimentary wine, beer and hors d’oeuvres nightly from 5-7pm.

Services & Facilities

The property has a beautiful heated pool and plenty of beautiful balconies around the courtyard. This area is away from Bourbon Street and surprisingly very quiet! We didn’t use the pool but I can definitely see this being crowded during the summer months! The courtyard and patio area is a great place to sit, relax and enjoy an afternoon.

DINING & ENTERTAINMENT

Restaurant R’evolution: The award winning restaurant is known for it’s classic Creole and Cajun cuisine. Come for a romantic dinner with delicious food and drinks! Make sure you order the seafood beignets!

Desire Oyster Bar: Come here for the raw oyster bar!

Le Booze: They have an amazing selection of whisky and bourbon from around the world.

PJ’s Coffee Cafe: If you love coffee, PJ’s is conveniently located in the hotel lobby

The Jazz Playhouse: When visiting New Orleans, you’re not allowed to leave without seeing live jazz! As one of New Orleans’ best jazz bars we knew we had to experience The Jazz Playhouse! Shows begin nightly at 8pm with options to purchase preferred seating or seats are first come first serve. The Jazz Playhouse offers delicious cocktails, wine and small plates. This is a true New Orleans experience you cannot miss!

We had a great time and loved the friendly staff. It was the perfect girls trip and we cannot wait to return!

This looks like a nice place to stay. I have to say that after our recent stay in a club room in Bangkok I do love the extras you receive – wine o’clock is fab!

This looks like a fabulous stay! It’s funny that the buffet kind of matches the L’Occitane products. There was a display at the Marriott in Seoul that was based on L’Occitane so I guess they’re partnering with many hotels around the world. I always try to check out places with executive lounges for happy hour too. Makes a great afternoon repose. Those rooms are stunning, too. Get me into that pool STAT!

This hotel is a perfect luxury place where royal meets the charm of New Orleans. I really liked the antique feel of the hotel with lavishly decorated rooms. New Orleans has been a place I’ve been dying to stay for awhile because I love jazz music. How close is the hotel to Bourbon Street?

Whoaaaa! Digging that color scheme! It kind of matches with your current layout 😀 I love getting to read about new hotels never before on my radar. As I’d love to get married in New Orleans, this is definitely something I’m bookmarking! I think the number of dining options is what really sold me!
