CUTE, WEIRD & BEST PLACES TO EAT IN TOKYO

Japan is known for having cute cafes, weird restaurants and one of the most Michelin star restaurants in the world. Here is a full list of everything you will want to eat!

Cuteness Overload

Totoro

Shirohige’s Cream Puff Factory is the cutest!! A little out of the way but worth the visit!

Hello Kitty Ice Cream

Inside Diver City Plaza Sanrio store for ice cream and cute Hello Kitty mini pancakes

Hello Kitty

Cafe de Miki with Hello Kitty (has been closed) for cute pancakes and coffee. Also located in Diver City Plaza.

Ojipan

Ojipan Cafe is located in Harajuku on the 3rd floor of Cute Cute Building. Pompompurin Cafe is also located in the same building and across from Ojipan.

pancake

Pancakes filled red bean located at Tokyo Sky Tree.

Cinnimon Roll

The Guest Cafe is located in (Shibuya PARCO) and collaborates with different characters every few months. Such as My Melody, Cinnamon Roll, etc.

You won’t feel lonely at the Moomin Cafe! Moomin plush toys will be seated with you during your stay.

Gucci Cafe in Ginza for Gucci themed dessert.

Weird and Wonderful Themed Restaurants

Robot Show

Robot Restaurant is mentioned in my Tokyo post and is a unique experience. I do recommend having dinner around the area and heading to the show after. Not sure if this is worth it in my opinion but it’s definitely something all tourists seem to do for their first time in Tokyo. Purchase tickets through Viator.

Alice in Dancing Land

Alice

Alice Menu

Alice Food

Alice Dinner

There are 5 Alice in Wonderland themed restaurants and I went to the Alice in Dancing Land restaurant in Shibuya. The venue was beautiful, food was just okay but overall a cute and fun experience.

Ninja

Ninja Restaurant

Ninja Akasaka Restaurant was a fun experience! When walking in you are welcomed by a Ninja who takes you through a dark restaurant. There are multiple courses and we opted for the 5-course menu which is more than enough. They also have a ninja magic show in the middle of your dinner!

Kawaii Monster Cafe full of bright colors where you experience “Harajuku”.

All Other Must Eats

mochi strawberry

Each time I was in Ginza Akebono I would eat at least 2. The mochi is the freshest I had and the strawberry was SUPER sweet! You must come here for the best Ichigo Daifuku. They only start selling after 2 pm and they tend to sell out.

Dango

Eat all the dango you can!!

Crepe

Crepes in Harajuku is a must!

Daily Chico

Daily Chico for the 8 layer ice cream!! Doesn’t that make you say “WOW”?? Good luck trying to finish it or not getting ice cream all over your face.. =)

If you do not know what this is… you may be living under a rock. =) Dominique Ansel is the creator of the cronut (croissant + donut) hybrid. He started this in New York which I’ve had plenty of! They’re so good and must be eaten fresh. In New York, people line up as early as 6 am to get their hands on this. In Tokyo – no wait! Dominique Ansel Bakery located by Harajuku.

Mister Donut

Mister Donut is located everywhere so when you see one, make a stop into the shop and get yourself a Mochi donut.

Tapas Molecular

Tokyo View

Make reservations for a 16-course gastronomic dinner at Tapas Molecular for a great innovative dinner experience! Located inside the Mandarin Oriental which is beautiful and has the best views of Tokyo. Read more about my dining experience here: Tapas Molecular Bar: Gastronomic Dinner

Ichiran

Ichiran is a chain and very unique. You will find yourself ordering from a vending machine and seating yourself before getting your bowl of ramen.

Ramen

Located in Harajuku – Kyushujangara was the best ramen I had!

Jojoen

Jojoen view

Can’t leave Japan without having BBQ!! A bit pricey but Jojoen beef was the BEST!!! Don’t even bother with anything else there. So tasty!! If you go to the Shinjuku location you’ll get a great view of the city as well.

Yakitori

Soba okonomiyaki

If you want Yakitori you will need to order drinks during your meal. I’m not sure of the restaurant I went to but if you head to Omoide Yokocho street in Shinjuku there’s plenty of yakitori restaurants.

chirashi bowl

Zanmai sushi

Sushi Zanmai inside Tsukiji Market was one of the best sushi I had!! Definitely, recommend it but you can’t go wrong with any of the sushi served in the fish market.

Conveyor belt sushi?? Cheap but good for the price in Japan! Numazuko in Shinjuku was a great deal. There is also another conveyor belt sushi in Tsukiji Market.

Mos Burger is a chain but I recommend trying the rice bun burger!

Coco Curry is something I did not get to try but if you’re looking for curry here it is!

Check out all the restaurants in 2016 with Michelin Stars.

This makes me so hungry! Wish I can go back to Japan just to eat all this all over again =)

They all look so good! We love the plastic food replicas in the restos, sometimes they look better than the real thing! 🙂
