BEST ROOFTOPS IN NEW YORK CITY

When visiting New York you must visit a rooftop! New York is all about the rooftops, enjoy a delicious cocktail, and take in spectacular views of the best rooftops New York has to offer. To be honest, there’s just way too many opening in the city so I’ve compiled a list of my personal favorite of best rooftops in New York City!

*I recommend making reservations online & please check their website for hours of operation

TIMES SQUARE

Bar 54 at Hyatt Centric is on the 54th floor of the Hyatt Hotel with amazing views of Times Square.

St Cloud is an upscale bar at the Knickerbocker Hotel.

SuperNova is in the heart of Times Square, this is one of the best rooftops with the best view of the Times Square lights.

Magic Hour at MOXY Times Square is a fun rooftop bar with an amusement park theme, including mini-golf.

If you’re looking for great sushi then Sushi Lab is one of my favorite sushi restaurants and it’s located on a rooftop at The Sanctuary Hotel.

MIDTOWN/UPTOWN

SixtyFive Bar is located on the 65th floor of the Rockefeller Building. Tip – guests can save money and go here instead of Top of the Rock for the same exact views for FREE!!! This is probably my favorite view when it comes to the best rooftops in New York City!

The Skylark is an awesome rooftop in Midtown with great food and drinks. Pretty large space so it’s great for large parties and a night out. It has a great view of the Empire State Building.

PHD Terrace Midtown has the prettiest flower tunnel and decorations! I highly recommend visiting this rooftop especially for a date or night out with friends. They change the decorations seasonally.

Refinery Rooftop is one of my favorite trendy rooftops and great for happy hour after work! Located at the Refinery Hotel

The Monarch Rooftop is great for date night and great night views of the city

Press Lounge is located at Ink48 Hotel. Along the west side, Press Lounge is upscale and has spectacular night views and a personal favorite.

Cantina Rooftop for some of the best tacos on a rooftop! The decoration changes seasonally.

FLATIRON/NOMAD

230 Fifth is one of the most popular rooftops for young professionals with a great view of the Empire State Building. The rooftop ambiance changes by season. During the winter months, they offer igloos on the rooftop to keep you warm and toasty.

A.R.T Nomad is located at the Arlo Hotel in Nomad. This rooftop has amazing views of the city and also has a clear glass floor!

Eataly – SERRA by Birreria is located in Flatiron and has the most gorgeous rooftop restaurant! It’s a seasonal restaurant with stunning decorations and the food is amazing too!

The Nomad Hotel Rooftop is perfect for lunch or dinner if you’re looking for a quiet place to dine. It has gorgeous decorations with stunning chandeliers and a view of The Empire State Building. I highly recommend ordering the fried chicken!

Sandbar Rooftop is the newest rooftop in New York that opened the Summer of 2020. It’s located at the Hilton hotel on 26th st with a Hampton’s theme with cute swings and white and blue decorations. The rooftop has views of the Empire State Building, downtown and guests will need to make reservations online with $25 spend per person.

Royalton Park Avenue Rooftop is located at the Royalton Hotel. It has an awesome pool deck with the Empire State Building and a cute rooftop for drinks.

SOHO/WEST VILLAGE

The Jane Rooftop is located at the Jane Hotel, this was a well-kept secret! For the first two years, the only way to visit the rooftop was to have a reservation. It’s a fairly small space but it’s a beautiful way to relax and enjoy the sunset.

Le Bain is located at the Standard Hotel and is a great place to lounge on pink beds and colorful seats. This is one of the most fun rooftops and best for summer afternoons. During the summer they have summer events with music. This is also one of my favorite rooftops to take my visitors.

Jimmy at The James has a great view of the Brooklyn Bridge and the World Trade Center. There’s also a pool right in the middle of the rooftop.

Azul on the Roof is located at Hotel Hugo with a Cuban cantina theme. It has stunning Hudson River views and downtown.

EAST VILLAGE/DOWNTOWN

The Loopy Doopy Rooftop Bar at the top of the Conrad Hotel is very small but has the best alcoholic drinks with a popsicle to help cool you down during the hot summer days.

The Crown Rooftop is located downtown in Chinatown. It has a large open space and it’s located at the Hotel 50 Bowery

Mr. Purple is located at Hotel Indigo in the Lower East Side with awesome views looking Uptown and has a rooftop pool

Ampia Rooftop is an Italian restaurant perfect for brunch and dinner. The rooftop has greenhouses for each guest and is one of the newest rooftops in New York

BROOKLYN ROOFTOPS

Harriet’s Rooftop & Lounge is located at the 1 Hotel in Dumbo. It has stunning panoramic views of the Manhattan skyline.

Time Out Market is a food market and has a public rooftop with similar views from Harriet’s. I definitely recommend stopping by Time Out Market for a drink or a quick snack and head to the rooftop at sunset.

Summerly Rooftop is located at the Hoxton Hotel in Williamsburg. I love the cute yellow umbrellas and I suggest ordering a rose!

Westlight Rooftop is located at the William Vale Hotel in Williamsburg so you can also stop by Summerly too since it’s two blocks away. It has a pretty large outdoor space and cute yellow couches to relax on and enjoy the sunset.

I sure wish I’d had this list when we were there last year! Tell me, is it free to visit any of the rooftop bars? Or must you order something in order to see the view? I could definitely see why Press Lounge was one of your favorites!

Hi Tami, they’re all free!!! They don’t make you purchase anything but some of them may take awhile to get in during nights. I usually like going a little earlier so I get in before the crowds. Hope you get to go back to NY to visit the rooftops!

I had no idea that there are so many rooftop bars in Manhattan now. I can’t wait to return to NYC and check them out in person.

Great list and in the summer having a drink on the roof with a view is so nice. I love the idea of a drink with a popsicle.

In all the times I’ve been to NYC, I haven’t yet been to a rooftop bar in Manhattan. I do love the rooftop bar at the Wythe Hotel in Williamsburg. Fantastic view of Manhattan skyline! I’ll have to share this post with my sister. Next time I visit her we’ll have to grab rooftop drinks at one of these bars!
