3 DAY ITINERARY IN BARCELONA
There is so much to see and do in Barcelona. The city is vibrant and full of color everywhere you go! Anyone who visits will want to return immediately, I know I did! Theย architecture in Barcelona isย unique as you will beย fascinated by Antoni Gaudi’s work throughout the city. If you plan to visit soon, here’s aย quick three day travel itinerary to Barcelona!
Things To Know
- Best time to visit is May –ย October
- Most places accept Visa & Mastercard
- ATMs can be found throughout the city
- Wear comfortable shoes! There is a lot of walking!
- Taxi and Metro is cheap and easy to use
Where to Stay
Praktik Bakery Hotelย is located near Casa Mila and high end shopping. It’s convenient since there is a metro around the corner. What I really liked about the hotel is the theme! It’s a hotel with a bakery in the lobby, every morning I woke up smelling fresh baked goods and had a great breakfast every morning! This is a boutique hotel that has other similar themedย hotelsย such asย Praktik Garden and Praktik Vinoteca (Wine)!
Day 1
Casaย Batllรณย – Casa Batllo is a 5 minute walk from the Praktik Bakery hotel. It is one of the famous buildings designed by Antoni Gaudi on Passeig de Gracia street. This building is very unique, the outside of the building hasย “skulls” as balconies and the “bones” supporting the pillars. To visit and tour the inside, ticketsย can be purchasedย here.
Walk La Ramblaย – La Rambla is one of the busiest streets with many shops and restaurants. It’s very lively with many vendors selling juices, gelato and souvenirs.
Laย Boqueria Marketย – The market is located on La Rambla and is definitely a must! You can find many food stalls here andย more juices for 2 euros!
Get Lost in theย Gothic Quarter – From La Rambla there is a small street that connects to the Gothic Quarter.
Day 2
Casa Milร /La Pedrera –ย Casa Milร is a block away from the Praktik Bakery Hotel. It is a modernist building andย designed by Antoni Gaudi. I would visit to see the rooftop! Tickets can be purchasedย here.
Montjuรฏc Castle –ย Montjuรฏc Castle is an old military fortress, built on top of Montjuรฏc hill in and provides panoramic views. The best way to get here is by metro and using the cable car.
Estadi Olรญmpic Lluรญs (Olympic Stadium) – Take the cable car back down to the metro station and walk to the stadium to explore. It is about a 15 minute walk.
Day 3
Sagrada Familia – The Sagrada Familiia is aย large Roman Catholic church and designed by Antoni Gaudรญ. The basilica is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There are two towers for visitors to visit: Passion Facade & Nativity Facade. I chose the Nativity facade and I did not regret it. The views were amazing and I highly recommend it. Purchase tickets in advanceย here.
Ciutadella Park – A beautiful park in Barcelona. Walk around and enjoy a day in the park!
Parc Guell – My favorite of Antoni Guadi’s work!ย This is a public park and very unique. It has homes that remind me of ginger bread houses. =) Purchase advance ticketsย here.
Other Activities
Barceloneta beach for a day in the sun!
Camp Nouย – Watch FC Barcelona play or if you’re interested in touring the place.
Magic Fountain of Montjuรฏc – A Beautiful water display. 9-11:30pm every Thurs-Sun.
Palau Guell – A mansion designed by Antoni Guadi, it also has a beautiful rooftop display.
Picasso Museum – Everyone loves Picasso artwork right!?
Day trip to Dali Museum in Figueres
What To Eat – Tapas, Paella, Sangria and so much more!!!

Barcelona is a fantastic city. I haven’t been for about 20 years, so I am long over due another visit. I love the Gaudi architecture, and especially Sagrada Familia. A great city guide! Thanks.

I heard about that hotel before from a friend! I`m definitely staying there when I`ll visit the city.
Also, thanks for giving more locations to visit, not just Sagrada Familiia. When I search about Barcelona it seems I only read about this church – which is great, don`t get me wrong, but Barcelona seems so full of life and culture that it cannot be just this church!
Looking forward for more about Barcelona!

Barcelona is such a beautiful city, there’s so much to see and do!! On my last visit to Barcelona, I managed to visit almost all the places you mentioned above apart from the Olympic stadium and Montjuรฎc Castle. Very helpful guide for first time visitors to the city ๐

This guide is perfect – you have covered all the major attractions. I loved Gaudi’s architecture when I was in Barcelona so including all of his top works is a great idea for the itinerary.

What a beautiful city and great guide but a few questions: is it easy to get around with only English? Are there anything culturally that I need to know like don’t give people the finger or whatever? Are there certain parts of the city that I should stay away from?

Thanks! It’s very easy to get around with only English. Lol I expect that you will never have to give anyone the finger… it’s a great city and everyone is friendly. I found Barcelona very safe everywhere.
